Former Clinton advisor believes Joe Biden's 2024 aspirations are dead after classified documents scandal

Political commentator Dick Morris believes President Joe Biden's 2024 reelection prospects have all but evaporated following his classified documents scandal, the Daily Wire reported. Morris, who served as an adviser to former President Bill Clinton, made this prediction Sunday.

"That’s going to be the absolute end for Biden," Morris told John Catsimatidis on WABC radio's "The Cats Roundtable." He believes that voters will turn on the president after the discovery of documents in at least two locations Biden occupied.

Recent polling now suggests that only a quarter of Democrats want to see Biden run again. "When Biden as president can’t get more than 25% of the primary vote in his own party, that’s near death," Morris said.

"He’s so incredibly vulnerable,” he added. "You’d think he’d be at 40% or 50% at the least. That means pretty much anybody that breathes on him can knock him over."

Morris said that one of the troubling aspects of finding the mislaid classified documents is that his son Hunter Biden could have had access to them. The first trove of documents was found at the Penn Biden Center, an office Joe Biden occupied after his time as vice president.

However, a second stash was found in his Wilmington, Delaware, home and most certainly would have been available to the president's son. The younger Biden had listed that home as his residence following his 2017 divorce.

Hunter Biden is embroiled in his own scandals, including shady business dealings with China and other foreign adversaries, CNN reported. Morris believes this fact, coupled with his potential to access classified documents, could be the death knell for the president's political career.

"It’s different," Morris said. "Trump took them like mementos, like an ashtray. A letter from Kim Jong-un that he could show people," he said of the classified documents found at former President Donald Trump's home.

In August, the FBI raided the former president's Mar-a-Lago residence and recovered thousands of classified documents, the Associated Press reported. Now that Biden was also found with classified documents, the conversation about it has shifted.

Trump claimed that he declassified said documents as part of his presidential powers. Biden had no such authority at the time, and Morris believes the content of what was found in Biden's possession could draw another stark contrast.

"[Biden’s situation] is directly linked to a big bribery scandal involving the vice president and his son," Morris claimed. "That’s a whole other situation," he added.

"It will knock Biden out of the race," Morris concluded. Whether that will happen or not, it certainly seems some Democrats are positioning themselves to pounce in the event that happens.

Despite assurances that he would support Biden, California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom picked a fight with Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis ahead of the November elections, the Associated Press reported. This move smacked of someone looking ahead to his own presidential bid even as he claimed not to have such ambitions.

There's certainly a sense that the Democratic Party is ready for someone other than Biden. Whether it will be because of the classified documents scandal, as Morris predicts, or some other factor, the 2024 race will be an uphill climb for Joe Biden.
