“When I became governor, I pledged to foster economic opportunity, support K-12 education, usher in a new era for Florida’s Everglades and water resources, ensure the integrity of our elections and stand for public safety and the rule of law,” DeSantis told Fox News.
“Florida’s economy is strong, we’ve boosted teacher pay, made historic investments in Everglades restoration and water quality, signed strong election integrity legislation, provided unparalleled support for law enforcement and appointed strong constitutionalists to our state courts,” he added.
DeSantis has long been rumored as a top contender to run for president in 2024. However, the governor has downplayed the idea and other other role, saying he’s focused on his current role in Florida.
On Monday, DeSantis also announced his plans to continue the fight against President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for employers. He has repeatedly said no one should lose their job over a jab.
The governor’s popularity has soared for his freedom-focus during the pandemic, giving him a huge boost as he enters the fight for reelection in 2022.
