First Lady Jill Biden reportedly "all in" on 2024 re-election campaign

First lady Jill Biden is reportedly "all in" for the 2024 re-election campaign of her husband, President Joe Biden, Breitbart reported. This is a change from earlier this year when she claimed she was unsure.

Several people close to the matter said the first lady is "all in" and seemed to have a change of heart after speaking with French President Emmanuel Macron. While with the pair at a White House dinner, Macron reportedly proposed a toast to the Bidens on their 2024 campaign.

Now the matter will be a topic of discussion during the holiday break as the Bidens celebrate Christmas at the White House. "This is ultimately a family decision," Joe Biden told reporters in a November news conference.

"I think everybody wants me to run, but we're going to have discussions about it," the president added. "And I don't feel in any a hurry one way or another."

The president's chief of staff Ron Klain, seemed to confirm the timeline last week as well as his confidence in Joe Biden's re-election bid. "I expect it shortly after the holidays," he said

"But I expect the decision will be to do it," Klain added. Klain said this at the Wall Street Journal's CEO Council Summit last week when asked about the president's intentions.

For all the will-he-won't-he talk about 2024, there's no evidence that the president is ready to let anyone else take his place. One of the biggest objections to his re-election is his age, and Joe Biden has chafed at the idea when asked if he's too old for another term.

"I no more think of myself as being as old as I am than fly," Joe Biden told Scott Pelley on CBS 60 Minutes. "I mean, it's just not-- I haven't-- observed anything in terms of-- there's not things I don't do now that I did before, whether it's physical, or mental, or anything else."

There are several factors that could derail the plan, including the chance that the 80-year-old president will not be fit to run if his health does not hold up. Moreover, Biden has faced dismal approval numbers since his presidency began.

A recent poll revealed that Joe Biden's approval rating is stuck at 44%, The Hill reported. That's a slight uptick from the previous Morning Consult for the Bipartisan Policy Center that had him at 43%, but still not stellar numbers.

The problem is not just with Joe Biden either. Democrats would be in a bind without the incumbent president mainly because they have nobody else who would make a decent showing.

Typically, the vice president is the next logical choice to succeed a president. The problem is that his running mate is Vice President Kamala Harris, who is even more unpopular than the president.

Harris has only a 39% favorable rating among registered voters and a 53% unfavorable rating, according to a Los Angeles Times poll. This puts Joe Biden and the Democrats in a precarious position going into 2024 without the president, and there's no doubt Jill Biden has done the political math.

As a wife, Jill Biden should be looking out for her husband's best interests and let the octogenarian enjoy retirement. Instead, she seems to be on board with is re-election bid no matter the cost.
