Federal judge sides with Biden, will not strike down pause on oil and gas leases

President Joe Biden continued his assault on America's former energy-independent status (thanks to Donald Trump's pro-domestic energy policies). That was evidenced in a ruling this week when a judge affirmed the Biden administration's attack on the oil and gas industry.

According to the Washington Examiner, "Judge Scott Skavdahl of the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming, an Obama appointee, ruled that the groups lacked standing to sue to stop Biden from postponing oil and gas lease sales for the second quarter of that year."

The decision comes in the wake of the state of Wyoming and the Western Energy Alliance and Petroleum Association of Wyoming suing the Biden administration last year in order to put a halt to the administration's moves that paused oil and gas leases.

In a report from the Examiner last year, it was revealed that Wyoming, along with nine other states, including Texas, sued the administration over a "climate change" executive order that the states claimed was massive government overreach.

The EO in question is called "Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis," which the Examiner reported established a "Working Group on the Social Cost of Greenhouse Gases."

The group's primary purpose was to study "the social costs of carbon, nitrous oxide, and methane," and subsequently make recommendations to the White House about how they believe the "social cost" should be calculated into energy-related decisions.

The EO stated: "An accurate social cost is essential for agencies to accurately determine the social benefits of reducing greenhouse gas emissions when conducting cost-benefit analyses of regulatory and other actions."

Unfortunately, it appears as though the Biden administration is winning on that front. Hopefully, that begins to change when Republicans take back the House in November and, hopefully, the White House in 2024.
