FBI employee arrested for reportedly molesting children

An FBI employee was arrested in Utah on Wednesday for allegedly sexually abusing five children.

Robert Alexander Smith, 65, was arrested on multiple accounts of sexual abuse of a child, among other charges.

"In June, a girl filed a complaint reporting that Smith touched her sexually multiple times and forced her to touch him in inappropriate places in 2020, KSL TV reported. She said she was 6 or 7 years old at the time," the Daily Caller reported.

"Four other girls who ranged in the pre-teen to teenage years reported his alleged abuse and became emotional or started crying while disclosing the incidents, Fox 13 News Utah reported," it added.

The alleged incidents happened in the agent's home, according to the reports. The FBI released only a brief statement confirming the arrest, saying it cannot further comment on the legal matter.

The arrest is a sad sign for the agency that has already been under recent scrutiny over multiple issues, including a controversial raid of former President Donald Trump's Florida home.
