Facebook, Twitter held regular meetings with DHS over censoring Americans

Leaders from Twitter and Facebook held regular meetings with the Department of Homeland Security over American censorship issues, newly leaked documents have confirmed.

The information was shared through leaks to the Intercept that revealed the collusion with Big Tech platforms.

The details

"The information came to light via leaks to the Intercept, as well as documents and minutes revealed through Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt's lawsuit filed against the Biden Administration that alleges government collusion with Big Tech to suppress Americans' First Amendment rights," Breitbart News reported.

"According to the material, DHS plans to target alleged misinformation around 'the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, racial justice, U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the nature of U.S. support to Ukraine,'" it added.

The leaked information

"There is also a formalized process for government officials to directly flag content on Facebook or Instagram and request that it be throttled or suppressed through a special Facebook portal that requires a government or law enforcement email to use," the Intercept revealed.

"At the time of writing, the 'content request system' at facebook.com/xtakedowns/login is still live. DHS and Meta, the parent company of Facebook, did not respond to a request for comment. The FBI declined to comment," it added.

A variety of news outlets were targeted ahead of the 2020 election that is likely related to these meetings.

The information was also likely an important factor in the response to Jan. 6.

There is a lot of explaining to do over the issues, and it goes back many years, leaving much more to discover.
