Elon Musk confirms deal to purchase Twitter will close on Friday

Elon Musk made waves when he set out to purchase Twitter. Now that the Tesla and SpaceX mogul is about to close the deal, the people at the company are losing their minds.

Musk has announced his $44 billion deal to purchase Twitter will close on Friday, the Washington Examiner reported. Documents to investors reveal he may be planning to cut up to 75% of the staff, which has set off a firestorm.

Earlier this year, the social media platform agreed to sell to Musk. During a video conference Monday with the banks, Musk announced that the sale would be finalized on Oct. 28.

Musk will receive $13 billion in financing for the purchase, which was one of the conditions of the sale. The other condition involved a lawsuit brought by Twitter, and the billionaire received a stay that would allow the deal to proceed.

One of Musk's planned changes at Twitter involves laying off as much as three-quarters of the current staff, according to documents he gave to investors that were obtained by the Washington Post. News of this caused an uproar at the company.

An anonymous cohort of Musk's soon-to-be underlings released a screed against him, Fox News reported. This "entitled" group was roundly criticized for its tone and content.

"We, the undersigned Twitter workers, believe the public conversation is in jeopardy," the letter stated. "Elon Musk's plan to lay off 75% of Twitter workers will hurt Twitter's ability to serve the public conversation."

"A threat of this magnitude is reckless, undermines our users' and customers' trust in our platform, and is a transparent act of worker intimidation," the letter went on. The employees not only called on Musk to keep them with full pay and benefits, but they also made additional demands.

Some of the demands were included under headings like "Respect," "Protection," and "Dignity." What they mean by those words mostly boils down to kowtowing to their woke ideals and not giving them the pink slip.

However, the heading "Safety" is most telling, considering Musk's apparent swivel to the political right. "We demand that leadership does not discriminate against workers on the basis of their race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or political beliefs."

Many commentators were quick to point out the absurdity of such demands from a new boss. Jason Howerton called the employees "entitled & unaccustomed to accountability" in a tweet Tuesday, while National Pulse editor-in-chief Raheem Kassam chided the employees as the "participation trophy generation."

Musk has the money and the clout to do as he wishes at Twitter once the deal goes through. Unfortunately, these young woke employees are so used to getting their way that they simply can't fathom it -- but they will soon enough.
