Dr. Fauci raking in $100,000 per speaking engagement following retirement

Dr. Anthony Fauci is raking in as much as $100,000 per speaking engagement after retiring from his post that made him the highest-paid employee in the federal government, Fox News reported. Social media was awash Sunday with ridicule for the former White House chief medical advisor.

The cascade of criticism began when Christina Pushaw, rapid response director for Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, shared a screenshot of a website advertising Fauci's services. The Leading Motivational Speaker's Agency touted his ability to deliver keynote speeches on "healthcare" and "motivational" topics for anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 a pop.

Fauci is described as a speaker "whose career warrants execution under immense pressure that can alter the course of human existence," the agency's website said. "His work on domestic as well as global health issues has saved millions of lives."

"This high level of research, discovery, and execution is amazing given the grave challenges he faces on a daily basis," the agency's description added. Despite the accolades, many see this as a way for him to cash in on the government experience that had already enriched him.

As director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Fauci raked in $3.6 million between 2010 and 2019. His salary the last year was $417,608, and $384,625.00 the two years prior to that.

However, it was his time on the White House coronavirus task force that made him genuinely wealthy. In 2019, Fauci and his wife were well off, with a net worth of $7.5 million, thanks to his government job.

By the end of 2021, they nearly doubled that amount as they increased their wealth to an estimated $12.6 million due to awards, royalties, compensation, and some investment gains. Now it seems Fauci cashing in doubly on that notoriety.

"Follow The Science Starting at 50k an hour," Substack writer Jordan Satchel tweeted, echoing the mantra that made him famous. "Gotta replace the 400K federal salary...." Tim Graham, the executive editor for Newsbusters, replied in Satchel's thread.

"Motivational? WTF is he motivating them to do? Triple mask? Gain of function?" bitcoin guru Saifedean Ammous tweeted, echoing the many criticisms against Fauci's legacy.

"The grift that keeps on gifting," former President Donald Trump's campaign staffer Kingsley Cortes described it in a tweet. "The audacity of this man," conservative commentator and influencer Jennifer Barreto-Leyva similarly wrote.

Still, Fauci is already a hot property on the commencement speech circuit. Last year he was the keynote speaker for ceremonies at The City College of New York, Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, and the University of Maryland.

This year, he will deliver the commencement address to Yale Medical School graduates in May. There's no word on what he will be paid for that gig, but it's clear that the most liberal institutions are clamoring to hear what he has to say.

Fauci remains a darling of the left for opposing Trump, but many see his legacy as an abject failure. The COVID-19 lockdowns, mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and other draconian measures can be traced back to him in one way or another.

Instead of quietly fading away, it appears the 82-year-old will continue to peddle his nonsense for whoever is willing to shell out thousands to hear it. Like many swamp dwellers in Washington, D.C., Fauci just can't help himself.
