Dr. Fauci admits his lockdowns had negative consequences on school children

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci revealed on Wednesday that he knew his policies to end in-person education would lead to negative consequences for school children.

Fauci shared the comments during The Atlantic Festival in front of a live audience.

"When you have a divisiveness in society where every time you say something, you have X number of people with social media looking to attack it, that adds to the understandable confusion when you're dealing with an evolving outbreak," Fauci stated.

"Of course, when you make recommendations, if the primary goal when you're dealing with a situation where the hospitals were being overrun in New York, intensive care units were being put in hallways, you have to do something that's rather draconian," he added.

The confession further showed the problems of the pandemic lockdowns, with many students falling behind in learning by a year or more.

The lockdowns did not stop the virus, but they did have a negative impact on education that is still leaving concerns today.
