Donald Trump gives Bragg 'Surprise' in Manhattan courtroom

Former President Donald Trump appeared in Manhattan on Thursday for his arraignment before District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts involving allegations of hush money paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016.

Surprise stare

"Jake Gibson, the network’s producer for federal law enforcement coverage, told Fox News that 'former President Trump definitely glared at the DA Bragg when he left' and 'sought Bragg out to stare him down,'” according to Conservative Brief.

“Mr. Trump walked in, the former President Trump walked in, he seemed to have a bit of a swagger. He looked stoic, he looked stone-faced. He pled not guilty, said ‘not guilty.’ Very interestingly, the prosecution wants this to go to trial in January of 2024. You know what else is in January of 2024? Primary season for the presidential election. Former President Trump’s team didn’t want to have anything to do with that,” Gibson said.

Bragg disbarred?

Attorney Alan Dershowitz believes that Bragg could even be disbarred over including former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen as a witness.

Dershowitz made the comments during a “Sunday Morning Futures” with host Maria Bartiromo.

“I don’t think an indictment can actually come forward now after the comments made by [Robert] Costello,” he said.

“If he uses Cohen as a witness, he could actually lose his bar license. It’s unethical to put a witness on the stand who you know is lying, and he has to know that Cohen will be lying. Or he tries the case without Cohen, which would be very difficult, or he does the right thing: he drops the case,” he added.

If found guilty, Trump faces over 100 years in prison under a maximum sentence. A conviction would likely result in a much smaller punishment.

Some believe the case will take Trump down as a top contender for president in 2024. Others argue the case will make him even more popular and lead him to victory in the next election.

In either case, the appearance and staredown of Bragg showed that Trump does not intend to back down in Bragg's case against him.
