DOJ wants court to expedite appeal ruling over special master appointment

Former President Donald Trump, in his attempt to once again defend himself and his reputation from the angry, Trump Derangement Syndrome-riddled elitists on the left, scored a major victory last month when a federal judge ruled in favor of his legal team's request for a special master.

The Justice Department, predictably, wasn't happy with the ruling, and quickly moved to file an appeal.

According to the Washington Examiner, President Joe Biden's DOJ is now asking the court to expedite a ruling on its appeal of the special master appointment, claiming that such an addition to the case is hampering an ongoing investigation.

According to court documents, expediting the ruling would "more quickly resume its full investigation without restraints on its review and use of evidence seized pursuant to a lawful search warrant."

It added: "Expediting the appeal would serve the interests of justice because the portions of the district court's injunction that have not been stayed restrict the government's ability to vindicate the strong public interest in proceeding expeditiously with the criminal and national security investigation that underlies these proceedings."

Should the Appeals court rule in favor of the DOJ, the special master appointment would be canceled, and it would deal a major blow to Trump's legal defense team.

The situation comes on the heels of Judge Aileen Cannon's ruling that temporarily enjoined "the Government from reviewing and using the seized materials for investigative purposes pending completion of the special master's review or further Court order."

Only time will tell, but even if Trump's legal team loses the special master, if history is a guide, the former president will once again escape the witchhunt attacks by the left.
