Defunding police is a recipe for anarchy. Rather than it being a proposal sought by fringe radicals, it’s now part of mainstream Democratic policy.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) is under fire after calling for “No more policing” in a tweet last week, Breitbart reported. Now Detroit Police Chief James Craig is calling for her resignation.
Tlaib was commenting on the death of Duante Wright, a black man shot by a white police officer after she mistook her firearm for a taser. It’s clear from the body camera footage that the officer repeated the word “taser” before firing the shot, giving credence to her defense. There was also nothing to indicate it had anything to do with the suspect’s race at all.
“It wasn’t an accident. Policing in our country is inherently & intentionally racist,” Tlaib tweeted. “Daunte Wright was met with aggression & violence. I am done with those who condone government funded murder,” she wrote despite having no evidence it was anything but a tragic mistake.
“No more policing, incarceration, and militarization,” she continued. “It can’t be reformed.”

“I’d love to see her resign, I’d throw her a goodbye party. Let her go,” Craig told WJBK-TV anchor Charlie Langton. “Who is she speaking for Charlie? Let me just say this, when you talk about abolishing police, incarceration, you talk about safe cities — what do you think the residents in Detroit want?”
This isn’t the first time Tlaib and Craig have exchanged words. The Michigan representative had previously attacked Craig for his department’s use of facial recognition software to catch perpetrators. Tlaib thought he should hire only black officers to analyze the results and called the method “this whole facial recognition bull—-.” Craig said it was in use with crime victims in mind who wished for justice.
The pair have also sparred over the treatment of rioters in Detroit with Tlaib charging “excessive use of force” during last year’s Black Lives Matter riots. Craig supports the Second Amendment as a means for citizens to protect themselves as well as policing techniques that utilize video camera footage. Tlaib rejects both.
The crop of four females in the House of Representatives known as “The Squad” are rabid leftists, with Tlaib not even raking as the worst of them. However, Craig is right that a Congresswoman advocating against law and order does not deserve to keep her seat — Tlaib should resign.
