Democrats want Justice Clarence Thomas to recuse from 2020 election cases

Democrats are still adamant that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas recuse himself from cases related to the 2020 election or the January 6 Capitol incursion.

According to Breitbart, their reasoning is because Thomas' wife, Virginia "Ginni" Thomas, has testified to the January 6 Committee regarding her role in conservative activism on January 6.

Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) sounded the trumpet regarding her party's wish to have Justice Thomas step back from any related cases.

Lofgren's demand came via an interview on MSNBC.

MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes milked the interview for as many anti-Thomas tidbits as possible.

“It does seem significant, to me at least, and I would like to get your thoughts on this, that the wife of a sitting Supreme Court Justice, who will likely have to rule on all this, is conferring with him about the state of the election, her desire for a coup essentially to happen or for Donald Trump to be declared the winner, and her text messages for the chief of staff, does that strike you as significant?" Hayes asked.

"Well, it did seem at odds with their other testimony, which said that she and her husband have a strict policy of never discussing anything that is involved in their separate careers. You know, I do think, depending, well, it did strike me as wrong behavior," Lofgren responded.

The California Democrat added: "I think, based on this, that Justice Thomas would be well advised to recuse himself from participating in matters that relate to this. Now, whether there will be a lot of other matters before the court, the committee, as you know, will be ending its work in just a couple of days."

"I don’t know how much litigation will be heading for the court in the future on this. But he should recuse himself, and he should have done so for the other cases, in my opinion."

Some on Twitter argued that the request was hypocritical, as nobody on the January 6 House Committee who had taken part in Trump's two impeachments had recused themselves from the hoax investigation.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that Democrats are saying the whackiest things, as they're about to lose their grip on power in the lower chamber.

Only time will tell what happens, but Republicans have vowed to go full force in their investigations into a number of shady Democrats, and payback is not going to be fun for them.
