Democrats looking to bar Donald Trump and his allies from entering the U.S. Capitol

Two Democratic lawmakers are pushing to bar former President Donald Trump and his allies from the U.S. Capitol, TheBlaze reported. The concurrent resolution was introduced by  Rep. Nikema Williams (D-GA) and co-sponsored by Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who is best known for his relationship with a Chinese spy.

"The Sergeant at Arms of the House of Representatives, the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the Senate, and the United States Capitol Police shall take such actions as may be necessary to prohibit President Donald John Trump, Steve Bannon, Mark Meadows, Dan Scavino, Peter Navarro, Jeffrey Clark, John Eastman, Kenneth Cheseboro, and Rudy Giuliani from entering the United States Capitol," the resolution stated. Swalwell tweeted his approval Tuesday after receiving backlash.

"This isn't even my bill — it's a brilliant bill written by @RepNikema, Swalwell wrote. "Which, of course I support!" he said.

"And by the way, when the village nearly burns down, we don’t invite the arsonist back to visit. Duh," Swalwell added.

Williams followed the same thread in her own social media post in a reply to Swalwell's pandering. "@RepSwalwell co-sponsored my legislation, but I'll sign on to his analogy: let's keep the arsonists out of the Capitol y'all."

The Georgia Democrat had put forth a similar resolution following the attack on the Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021. Williams and Swalwell are again returning to the only political well the Democrats feel hasn't run dry yet.

However, Trump was ready to strike back in his statement Thursday, Fox News reported. "This idiot is now calling (for publicity purposes only!) for some Great American Patriots, including me, to be banned from the Capitol," Trump said.

"Fortunately, people understand that Swalwell is a 'low life,' not respected by anybody, and merely used for entertainment reasons by the Fake News Media to continue their assault on President Donald J. Trump, and America!" Trump also took a dig at Swalwell for being thrown off of the House Intelligence Committee for allegedly "falling desperately in love with a Chinese spy, Fang Fang."

In December 2020, Axios broke the story that Swalwell had close ties to the young woman Christine Fang, also known as Fang Fang, who turned out to be a spy. She had cozied up to Democrats and helped fundraise for Swalwell's re-election in 2014.

The California lawmaker repaid her by placing two interns in his office whom she recommended, apparently unaware of her ties to the Chinese government. Swalwell has denied impropriety and claimed to have cut off communication with Fang as soon as he found out.

Still, Trump has a point about this disgraced politician's role in this political stunt. Ever since Trump announced his intention to run for president in 2024, Democrats have been scared that he just might win the nomination.

They're trying everything in their power to keep him out of the White House and perhaps even out of Washington, D.C. As it is, Trump is currently facing four separate criminal investigations, according to the New York Times, and they have questionable merits.

Two of them are centered around his role in allegedly attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election, and one of the has to do with the classified documents found at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence. The fourth is another go-round for Stormy Daniels, the porn star who has worn out her 15 minutes of fame but still fighting a non-disclosure agreement.

After several investigations, accusations, and political games, Trump is as popular as ever. Democrats are trying hard to milk the Jan. 6 incident for all it's worth, but a resolution like this is an obvious political stunt -- and it just might backfire on them.
