Democrat Seth Magaziner losing to Republican challenger in Rhode Island

Democrats are facing an uphill climb heading into the midterm elections. Things are bleak as it looks as though they're about to lose another seat in a northeastern state.

Democrat state treasurer Seth Magaziner is losing big to Republican Allan Fung in polling for Rhode Island's Second Congressional District, Breitbart reported. A Boston Globe/Suffolk University poll has Magaziner trailing Fung by eight points for a seat currently held by a retiring Democrat.

The poll, taken among 422 people between October 1 and 4, has 37% of voters promising to cast a ballot for Magaziner. By contrast, Fung, former mayor of Cranston, garnered 45% of the prospective vote.

It's noteworthy that five percent reported leaning toward the independent in the race while another 13% simply reported being undecided. Still, this means that the seat held by Democrats for a long time could flip to Republican in the midterms next month.

Moreover, President Joe Biden easily won the state in the 2020 presidential election. The Democrat received 60% of the vote against former GOP President Donald Trump.

While the left seeks to downplay this monumental shift, it's undeniable that Biden's destruction of the economy and radical policies have turned off even the most liberal Rhode Island voters. The Boston Globe reported that 66% of voters who named the increasing cost of living as their most important issue are voting for Fung.

There's also the problem of Biden's unpopularity in the state where he has a 52% disapproval rating. Add to it that Magaziner is a problematic candidate that the Democrat machine coalesced behind. His father has been tied to child predator Jeffrey Epstein, and Magaziner is seen as out of touch due to his affluent upbringing.

Democrats are in serious trouble as they face a midterm election season with an unpopular president overseeing an economy on the decline. Republicans are making inroads everywhere, and a red wave may sweep congress after all.
