Democrat Senate candidate Mike Franken accused of making "several" unwanted sexual advances on former campaign staffer

Allegations of sexual misconduct can sink any politician. However, it seems to happen most often with Democrats.

A former staffer to U.S. Senate nominee Mike Franken (D-IA) has filed a police report alleging that he made "several" unwanted sexual advances to her and others, Breitbart reported. The report has the alleged assailant's name blacked out, but several clues point to Franken.

The publication that broke the news, the Iowa Field Report, said the "context clues" make it clear that the allegations are against Franken as they were made by his former campaign manager, Kimberley Strope-Boggus. Mentions of other staffers' names and their titles also strongly link the incident to Franken.

The police report stated that Franken and Strope-Boggus had shared drinks at a Des Moines, Iowa bar on March 18. Afterward, he allegedly "grabbed the collar of the vest she was wearing and kissed her on her mouth" before she had time to "pull away," the report said.

Franken and Strop-Boggus never spoke of the alleged incident again despite maintaining ongoing contact. The candidate's attorneys also allegedly reached out to attempt to silence Strop-Boggus following the event.

Strope-Boggus reported telling her wife, Becky, who urged her to speak to the police. The report she later filed stated that Franken, the 64-year-old married father of two, was "old school" and had "1950s interactions with women."

The former staffer also complained that this kind of conduct was "something that he has done to several other women." However, the police report stated at the bottom that the "case will be closed as unfounded" without further action.

Franken is currently locked in a contentious race with Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), a longtime lawmaker. Ironically, one of Franken's campaign promises is to "end sexual discrimination, as well as workplace sexual harassment."

These allegations are ugly. However, it seems police aren't interested in further pursuing Franken, so perhaps the rest of the story will remain untold.
