Democrat New York assemblyman Pat Burke accused of sexual harassment

The New York Post reports that a Democratic assemblyman from New York is now facing allegations of sexual harassment.

The assemblyman is 38-year-old Pat Burke, a Democrat who represents the Buffalo, New York, area.

The allegations come from Nicole Golias, a former staff member of Burke. Golias left Burke's office last year - after working for him for less than a year - following controversial remarks that Burke, at the time, had made about the mass shooting that took place in a Buffalo supermarket.

Golias, on April 1, filed a claim against Burke with the New York Division of Human Rights.

Golias, in the filing, claims that Burke viewed sex tapes made by his own son involving the son's underage girlfriends and that, after viewing the tapes, Burke made some surprising comments about them.

Burke allegedly said:

He said the girls in the videos were "hot and it didn’t matter that they were under aged [sic]. He said, "if she has big boobs, a size zero waist and a huge ass, she’s hot."

This, however, is only the start of the allegations by Golias against Burke.

Golias goes on to claim that Burke "had conversations with my male co-workers about the genitals of the man I was dating."

And, Golias also claims that Burke referred to himself as a "colonizer," saying that he had "control and dominion over his wife because he is Caucasian and his wife is Puerto Rican.”

Overall, Golia said of Burke:

He would do anything he could to appear cool and attractive. And I don’t know if he was trying to convince others or himself. But it ended up just veering into entirely inappropriate behavior.

Burke is now trying to push back on the allegations, which he has referred to as "extremely upsetting."

Burke, in a statement, claimed that there is no evidence of wrongdoing and that those making the allegations are not credible.

Burke said:

You’re talking about people who lack credibility. There’s very clear, ample evidence that they lack credibility. In the end, there’s no evidence other than what they’re saying, that I carried on this way. This is just [the] latest action by them for revenge for being caught. The accusations are outrageous and salacious. That they bring my child into this, attempting to cause harm, is extremely upsetting.

Who exactly is telling the truth here remains unclear. The New York Assembly is investigating the matter.
