Democrat moves in with lobbyist, campaign donor to run in new district

In order to fight for reelection in a new congressional district, Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., recently relocated to a condo owned by a lobbyist.

The lobbyist also happens to be one of her campaign contributors in Lansing, Michigan, according to information obtained by Fox News Digital.

In order to run in the newly created 7th Congressional District in the year after new congressional maps were created in response to the 2020 census, Slotkin, who currently represents Michigan's 8th Congressional District, chose to relocate from her family farm in northern Oakland County, just outside of Detroit, to Lansing.

"From my perspective, if the district moves and is a Lansing-based district, and that is the district that's most natural for me to run in, then I will move and live in the Lansing area and run in the Lansing district," Slotkin said in the September 2021 Ingham County Democrats monthly meeting.

Slotkin changed her voting address in May of this year to mirror the location of a house in Lansing that is currently owned by Jerry Hollister, a manager at Niowave Inc., a pharmaceutical manufacturing company with headquarters in Lansing and millions of dollars in federal support.

According to Slotkin's campaign, she pays fair market rent for her Lansing residence and neither she nor her congressional office supported nor participated in any manner in any Niowave contracts.

Hollister, on the other hand, holds positions at the company as chief operating officer and director of government relations, where, according to his LinkedIn profile, his duties include "to continue developing Congres[s]ional relationships, local community relationships, and media relationships important to continued growth."

He also listed a principal consultant position with BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting LLC, a different Michigan-based technology consulting business that helps businesses write grant applications for government financing.
