Dem Senate candidate faces new ethics complaints over 'dirty' campaign money

The Democrats have a new scandal to deal with now that a formal ethics complaint has been filed against one of their top candidates for a crucial Senate race in November.

According to Breitbart, Senate candidate Mandela Barnes will now be looked at for allegedly taking in loads of dirty money from lobbyists this year and in 2021.

The ethics complaint was lodged with the Wisconsin Ethics Commission by attorneys for the Republican Party of Wisconsin (RPW). The report noted that the complaint could eventually morph into civil, or even criminal consequences for the Senate candidate.

Barnes is attempting to take Sen. Ron Johnson's (R-WI) seat, and the RPW released a statement on the issue.

"While Mandela Barnes claims to want to 'Stop big corporations and special interests from buying political influence,' his actions again prove his words are just lip service and not only will he accept special interest money, he'll also accept illegal contributions," RPW Executive Director Mark Jefferson said.

Breitbart noted that Barnes is a radical progressive:

Barnes has advocated for defunding “over-bloated” police departments, allowing felons to retain the right to vote, abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), permitting driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants, and giving in-state college tuition to illegal immigrants.

He favors an entirely government-run healthcare system, eliminating the Senate filibuster, packing the Supreme Court, and passing the Green New Deal. Barnes also derided small business owners as “selfish” for wanting to serve customers during the pandemic.

Even with that, Barns has managed to hold a small lead over Johnson in the polls, though a fresh ethics complaint and subsequent investigation could put a hard stop to his momentum.

Only time will tell.
