Members of the U.K. Parliament had quite the week after one of its members tendered his resignation, but it was his reasoning for quitting that made the headlines.
According to the Washington Examiner, U.K. Conservative Deputy Chief Whip Chris Pincher announced his abrupt resignation from his leadership post, citing the primary reason as having had too much the night before at the Carlton Club in London, an exclusive club for Conservative members, where he allegedly groped two men during his intoxicated state.
Pincher even apologized to Prime Minister Boris Johnson for the scandal.
“Last night I drank far too much. I’ve embarrassed myself and other people which is the last thing I want to do and for that, I apologise to you and to those concerned. I think the right thing to do in the circumstances is for me to resign as Deputy Chief Whip,” Pincher wrote.

He added: “It has been the honour of my life to have served in Her Majesty’s Government.”
“I owe it to you and the people I’ve caused upset to, to do this. I want to assure you that you will continue to have my full support from the back benches, and I wish you all the best as you deal with aftershocks of COVID and the challenges of international inflation,” he concluded.
Interestingly, there are no plans currently to punish Pincher. That means that his resignation from the Whip position is final, but he can still remain a regular member of Parliament, for the time being.
Pincher’s replacement in his former Whip position hasn’t yet been announced.
