Comer: Any indictment of Hunter Biden should wait until after Wednesday

Suggesting an imminent blockbuster development in the ongoing probe of Hunter Biden and his family business dealings, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) said on Sunday that any indictment of the first son on potential tax and gun charges should be held in abeyance until after he holds a Wednesday press conference, as the Daily Wire reports.

Comer's remarks came during an appearance on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo and have spurred speculation that the evidence he is poised to present will ensnare President Joe Biden as well.

According to the Washington Examiner, during his chat with Bartiromo, Comer indicated that his committee's work has resulted in a compilation of evidence he says reveals the involvement of Joe Biden and several other of his family members in a “criminal scheme” in which they received payments from the Chinese Communist Party for which political decisions and favors were granted in return.

The arrangement, according to Comer, was reportedly in effect while Joe Biden served as vice president in the administration of former President Barack Obama, and information about the scenario was brought forward to the committee by a whistleblower the congressman has described as “very credible.”

Recent reporting has suggested that after years of investigation, federal prosecutors are close to making a determination as to whether Hunter Biden will face a number of potential tax and gun-related charges, as the Washington Post noted, but Comer asserted to Bartiromo that they would be wise to wait just a little bit longer – at least until after mid-week.

“My message to the Department of Justice is very loud and clear: Do not indict Hunter Biden before Wednesday,” Comer stated.

The lawmaker signaled that he and others on the Republican-led panel were prepared to present evidence to show that a “web” of LLCs manipulated by foreign actors were used to pay Biden family members in a clandestine fashion in exchange for favors from the then-vice president.

Comer further explained to Bartiromo that the panel's perusal of bank records pertaining to the Bidens has yielded evidence that “fits a pattern” similar to what the whistleblower has outlined thus far.

The conclusions drawn from those revelations “would implicate Joe Biden in a pay-for-play scheme, in trying to set up a deal to receive funds to he and his family, in exchange for foreign policy decisions,” Comer added.

The Oversight chair's statements to Bartiromo come on the heels of last week's announcement made together with Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) – who has also probed the Bidens' business dealings for an extended period of time – about the aforementioned whistleblower's bombshell claims.

Based on the information already disclosed by the two legislators, Comer issued a subpoena to the DOJ and the FBI seeking production of a document the whistleblower says is in the agencies' possession, which lays bare the president's involvement in the criminal enterprise.

Grassley said at the time, “So, the Justice Department, the FBI needs to come clean to the American people, what they did with the document, because we know the document exists from very credible whistleblower information that we got. We really need to know what steps did the Justice Department and FBI take to investigate and to vet the document to determine if its accurate or not. And did the Justice Department and the FBI follow normal investigative procedures, or did they let political calculations interfere?”

Given the apparently quickening pace of the ongoing Hunter Biden probe overseen by Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss and the recent allegations floated by Comer and Grassley, it appears that it could be an extremely eventful few weeks for the president's family as a whole.

Whether any of these seemingly promising investigative threads ultimately lead to the sort of accountability and justice the Bidens have managed to elude for years, however, only time will tell.
