CNN's Van Jones says Kamala Harris is "essentially running for president"

Van Jones, former Green Jobs Czar and CNN contributor, believes Vice President Kamala Harris is "essentially running for president" as President Joe Biden's running mate in 2024, Breitbart reported. Jones believes the 80-year-old is not up for the task but that Harris will do the heavy lifting.

The former Obama administration official made these remarks on "CNN Primetime" Wednesday. Jones had high praise for the vice president and believes she is key to keeping a Democrat in the White House.

"I have known Kamala Harris for a long time. She did an extraordinary job as a DA in San Francisco, as the attorney general, and as a senator," Jones claimed.

"And I just think sometimes, if the team never really gives you the ball and lets you shoot your shot, you might underestimate that player. I mean, I think what you will see going forward is Joe Biden, if he’s smart, will run a Jimmy Carter Rose Garden campaign," Jones said.

The broadly-applied term comes from former President Jimmy Carter's lament that incumbent president Gerald Ford had the advantage of using official events and actions to campaign. However, the disadvantage is that people already know how terribly the president will govern, as is the case for Biden.

Still, Jones thinks it's an advantage for Biden's 2024 reelection bid. "He will let Kamala Harris go out there and do the blocking and tackling on the campaign trail," Jones said of Biden.

"I expect people will become more and more impressed with her as she gets more and more opportunities. I don’t think she’s been given the opportunity in the last two years to shoot her shots," Jones erroneously claimed.

By the time Harris was added to the ticket with Biden, she had already failed in her own presidential run. Then, when she was tasked with fixing the border crisis, Harris failed miserably both in practice and in her rhetoric, Reason reported.

Moreover, it seems that not a week goes by when Harris doesn't make the news for some embarrassing gaffe. Just this week after Biden announced his reelection bid, Harris spewed more word salad.

Speaking about abortion rights to a crowd at Howard University in Washington D.C., Harris once again rambled incessantly and incoherently about the topic, Fox News reported. "So I think it's very important, as you have heard from so many incredible leaders for us at every moment in time and certainly this one, to see the moment in time in which we exist and are present, and to be able to contextualize it, to understand where we exist in the history and in the moment as it relates not only to the past but the future," Harris said.

Still, Jones is under the impression that Harris simply hasn't been given an opportunity to shine. "I think you will see her grow now that she has the opportunity," Jones continued.

"Everybody understands this is the oldest guy ever to run, so the VP matters a ton. She will be under more scrutiny, but I think she will also have more opportunity to prove herself," he added.

"She is in such an unusual position," Jones continued. "She’s a woman, she’s black, she’s Asian and she’s running alongside the oldest person to ever do it, so she’s essentially running for president. That’s what she’s doing. I think she understands that. I think she’s going to rise to the occasion," Jones said.

What Jones finally got around to saying is exactly what everyone knows about Harris: She does nothing more than check the appropriate intersectional boxes. Unfortunately, Biden is too old and Harris is too unlikeable and incompetent to win, but the Democratic Party has nobody else.
