Failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton cannot let her 2016 defeat go.
Clinton decided on Thursday to remind America that she’s bitter about losing to Trump. She told the “Awards Chatter” podcast that she thinks she could beat Donald Trump in a hypothetical rematch.
When asked by the podcast host if she believes she could win against Trump if given the opportunity, she replied: “Yes. But I think people believe that this is a referendum on him.”
“You know, when he ran before, people who knew him mostly knew him from reality TV. He’d been in their living rooms, and he was a businessman, and he looked like a billionaire, and he rode around in his big plane and all of that,” she explained.
“So they kinda thought, ‘Well, hey, you know, give the guy a chance. Let’s see what he can do.’ And now everybody, I think, knows what the consequences of that have been.”
Hillary lost her bid against Trump by 70 electoral votes but refuses to actually concede defeat almost four years later.
Speaking of the calls to “lock her up,” Clinton said she wasn’t sure how Trump would pursue action after the election, but said that, “If he could have found anything that he thought could impose some kind of cost on me — because, at the root of this, Scott, is he fears that his win — that narrow win in the Electoral College — was not legitimate.”
“Part of what he does in the way he lashes out is because, deep down, he knows the Russians helped him, despite his incredible efforts to deny it.”
