Chinese Fentanyl responsible for second pandemic killing thousands of Americans

Contrary to the left’s claims about China, the communist nation is one of America’s staunchest adversaries. The death and destruction they’ve unleashed should be treated as a crime.

China is the main source of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that has led to thousands of lethal overdoses in America, the Daily Caller reported. The drug is potent and cheap, a combination that makes it dangerous.

While a leak from a Chinese lab is largely to blame for the COVID-19 pandemic, the worst export from China appears to be the powerful drug. It’s just one of several sources blamed for the increase in overdose deaths.

“China remains the primary source of fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances trafficked through international mail and express consignment operations environment, as well as the main source for all fentanyl-related substances trafficked into the United States,” a 2020 report the Drug Enforcement Agency said. It has had a profound impact on deaths in the U.S.

In the period between 2000 and 2014, the number of Americans succumbing to drug and opioid overdose has increased by 200%. Between April 2020 and April 2021, most of those deaths were caused by fentanyl and similar drugs.

Fentanyl is up to 100 times more potent than morphine and often used by drug suppliers and dealers to cut other drugs because it’s so cheap. This creates a situation where users overdose because they don’t know how much of the drug they’ve already consumed.

Former President Donald Trump had struck a 2019 deal with Xi Jinping to curb the drug’s export. Meanwhile, the Biden administration seems unwilling to firmly address any problem, having never brought it up in the several meetings between Biden and Xi.

The drug epidemic in this nation is heartbreaking and as much a public health crisis as coronavirus. However, just like COVID-19, nobody on the left is holding China accountable for curbing the crisis it has exacerbated.
