Border Patrol Union President Brandon Judd charged Vice President Kamala Harris with purposely avoiding a visit to the nation’s southern border despite President Joe Biden appointing her to lead the nation’s immigration response.
“If she goes to the U.S. border, people are going to expect her to fix the problem, so she avoids it. That’s disgusting because that’s putting politics ahead of what’s best for this country,” Judd noted during a Fox News Live interview.
“As long as we continue to release people into the United States after they violate our laws, with no consequences, people are going to continue to come. That’s the simple fact,” Judd added.
Judd also reported more than 1,600 illegal immigrants had been apprehended in the past 24 hours before his Fox News appearance. The numbers are beyond any past experiences current Border Patrol officials have encountered.
The catch and release system has failed to work, according to Judd. He claimed immigrants expect to find better job opportunities as other immigrants have not been turned away at the border.
Harris has stated she plans to meet with leaders of the Northern Triangle countries, but she has only spoken with Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei. The vice president has also talked with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
Harris also says she plans to soon visit with both leaders in person in the respective capitals of each leader. However, there are no current plans by the vice president or president to visit America’s southern border.
Harris has failed to show leadership where America needs it most. The nation’s concerns are growing regarding safety along our border, but have yet to see our nation’s leaders adequately address it.
