Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony in front of Jan. 6th Committee coming under intense scrutiny, questions of perjury swirling

The left has told some big, fat, ridiculous lies in the past. The biggest whopper yet came during House January 6 Committee hearings.

Several people close to the matter quickly disputed Cassidy Hutchinson’s outlandish testimony about former President Donald Trump, the Conservative Brief reported. Hutchinson had told the committee Trump tried to take over his presidential vehicle and assaulted a Secret Service agent.

The former aide’s account of events was already suspicious, with it being largely hearsay. However, the fantastical facts about what happened on Jan. 6, 2020, should have tipped off even the most partisan member of the committee right away.

Hutchinson claimed that as protestors were making their way to the U.S. Capitol, Trump allegedly demanded to follow. When his team said it was too dangerous, Trump, who was 74 years old at the time, supposedly reached into the front to grab the steering wheel with one hand and assaulted an agent with the other.

“The former aide said that she was told of the altercation in the SUV immediately afterward by a White House security official and that Bobby Engel, the head of the detail, was in the room and didn’t dispute the account at the time,” the Associated Press recounted. “Engel had grabbed Trump’s arm to prevent him from gaining control of the armored vehicle, she was told, and Trump then used his free hand to lunge at Engel.”

However, many officials agreed to speak on Trump’s behalf to dispute these outlandish claims. Trump’s security official Tonay Oranato, the agent driving the vehicle, and Engel all told the AP they would testify under oath that this never happened.

Of course, those in charge of this show trial were quick to defend Hutchinson. “The committee trusts the creditability of a witness who is willing to testify under oath and in public but is also willing to hear any and all information that others may have that would aid in their investigation,” a spokesman said.

Hutchinson’s fanciful account is laughable. If the committee were serious, she never would have even taken the stand.
