California resident calls out Kamala Harris’ photoshoot in front of burned out family home

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) took a break from her gruelling vice-presidential campaign schedule to travel back to her home state to survey the damage caused by massive fires that have swept California for nearly a month.

Harris met up with old friend Gov. Gavin Newsom in Auberry, CA, a small town in the hills of Fresno county which suffered devastating damages from the over 200,000-acre Creek Fire. A resident of the town charged Harris and Newsom with trespassing on his parent’s property in order to stage a photo shoot.

Trampas Patten, who originally posted his complaint on Facebook on Tuesday, said that he was “really frustrated” that “these two politicians used my parents [sic] loss for a photo opportunity to push their political agenda.”

Kamala Harris tweeted a photo of herself and Newsom posing in front of a burned down home that Patten identified as “what’s left of [his] parent’s house.” Breitbart reported that the pair had stopped at Pine Ridge Elementary in Auberry, then walked across the street to the family’s residence.

Accompanied by the photo of Harris and Newsom, Patten wrote:

For the friends of mine that don’t recognize the fireplace in the background, that is what is left of my parents house! What has me really frustrated right now is the fact that these two politicians used my parents loss for a photo opportunity to push their political agenda! Political party wouldn’t have made a difference in this moment. Decent human beings that have character and class, wouldn’t air someone else’s misfortune on national television! Think about this when you go to the polls in a few weeks to vote. Look at this picture closely, imagine it is what is left of your hard work, hopes, dreams, place of sanctuary. Do you want this kind of leadership, using you and your loss for political gain?!

For the record, my parents haven’t even been let back in yet themselves, to sort through what is left of their lives, but these two felt the need to go traipsing around my parents property without permission. I guess those property taxes my parents pay allow politicians to do this! Private property doesn’t exist in California anymore!

Both Newsom and Harris have blamed the catastrophic fires raging across the West Coast on climate change, ignoring the growing body of evidence that points to decades of poor forest management driven by Democrat policies as the cause of the blazes.

In the case of Auberry in particular, the Sierra National Forest surrounding the town and extending into the Sierra Nevada Mountains has been plagued by a bark beetle epidemic that has killed hundreds of thousands of trees within the last decade, providing ample kindling ready to ignite with the tiniest spark.

Despite the fact that state leaders have been aware of the dangers posed by the thousands of acres of dead trees for several years, no definitive action has been taken to mitigate the very apparent danger, leaving residents on edge for years dreading the inevitable.

Instead of addressing residents’ concerns that the state refuses to manage forests to prevent further wildfires, Newsom and Harris have doubled down on accelerating “green new deal”-like policies that cripple the already overburdened California grid and ignore the real cause behind the fires.
