Border Patrol chief say Biden's border policies caused immigration crisis

The Biden administration's decision to roll back Trump-era enforcement tactics, according to the nation's top Border Patrol agent who testified in a private judicial deposition, is what has led to the crisis of illegal immigration at the southern border.

According to a report by The Washington Examiner, a video obtained by Fox News showed Raul Ortiz say in a July 29 deposition that he was tapped by Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas to head the Border Patrol early on in the Biden administration.

"In my experience, we have seen increases when there are no consequences," Raul said in the deposition, going on to assert that he has largely kept a low profile during that time, not speaking out publicly despite agents' frustrations with leadership.

As part of the discovery process in Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody's lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security, Ortiz was requested to testify about the origins of the border crisis.

Florida filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration on the grounds that the policies it replaced under the Trump administration over the previous 18 months caused a mass migration event.

Since President Joe Biden entered office, more than 3 million people have been discovered trying to enter the country illegally from Mexico.

Under oath, Ortiz declared that the current state of affairs was a crisis and concurred with the attorney general that this year had seen "record numbers" of migrants arrive at the border.

The Biden administration's decision not to hold illegal immigrants in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities during court processes, according to Moody's lawsuit, encouraged more people to travel since they knew they would be allowed entry into the country.

Before releasing individuals, the Biden administration has chosen to lodge migrants in hotels for a number of days. They frequently keep track of these individuals through mobile applications that do not require ICE check-ins in person. The software is a part of the Alternatives to Detention program run by ICE, which the Biden administration has greatly expanded.
