Bombshell report reveals TikTok parent company aimed to spy on US citizens

TikTok is a mega-popular, highly influential, extremely addictive app that has become mainstream in the West, especially in the United States.

According to a bombshell Forbes report, that's a serious problem. That's because ByteDance, the app's parent company, intended to use the application to keep tabs on specific American citizens.

As Breitbart explained:

A team within ByteDance’s “Internal Audit and Risk Control department” reportedly conducts investigations into possible “misconduct” by current and former employees, but in at least two cases, the team had planned on gathering TikTok data about the location of a U.S. citizen who had never worked at the company.

The plan's details remain cloudy, and it wasn't confirmed whether or not the company was able to successfully track the American citizens or not.

The Forbes team that obtained the documents describing the plan decided not to reveal the nature and the purpose of the spying action, citing potential problems of exposing sources.

Former President Donald Trump had drawn attention to what he believed, based on information he obtained, were shady intentions and practices with the TikTok act. He tried, unsuccessfully, to ban the app in the United States altogether. It looks like once again, he had made the right call a long time ago.

Which American citizens is this company attempting to spy on? Celebrities, politicians, journalists? You and I? Who knows, but Congress better step it up and get to the bottom of the situation before America, once again, becomes a laughing stock under President Joe Biden.
