Biden’s immigration numbers a ‘disaster’ that may hurt Democrats during midterms

President Joe Biden’s open border policies have led to a disaster that could harm Democrats in future elections, according a a new policy report.

“Customs and Border Protection yesterday reported 185,515 apprehensions at the US southwest border for the month of September. This was 10,000 fewer than the previous month but still twice the level of the next highest September, that of 2000 under the Clinton administration.,” Steven Kopits, an analyst with the Princeton Policy Advisors firm, wrote.

Kopits predicts that by the end of the year, there will have been up to 2.1 million illegal immigrants cross the southern border in 2021. This would shatter previous record-setting illegal immigration years by about 500,000.

The report also noted the surge of illegal immigration under Biden is likely to spur political fallout for Democrats in the 2022 midterms and potentially beyond.

“The administration’s open borders policy is an unmitigated disaster … repairing the political damage may take a decade or more,” Kopits wrote.

The left’s thin lead in both the House and Senate could easily flip. Pelosi’s lead in the house includes only a few seats, while the Senate remains in a 50-50 tie with Vice President Kamala Harris as the tiebreaker.

Even a one-seat change in the Senate would put current Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer out of a job. The border could be the issue that does it.

Biden’s immigration views drew many voters his way in 2020, but the new border crisis may also be the issue that leads to Democrat losses in the new election.
