Biden's EPA to make sweeping changes to vehicle emissions rules, push Americans toward EVs

It looks like the radical, progressive eco-warrior Democrats are about to get their way under the Biden administration, as far as electric vehicles are concerned.

According to a bombshell Reuters report, President Joe Biden's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is expected to make "sweeping" changes to vehicle emissions rules that are undoubtedly a method to push more Americans into EVs.

The EPA will announce new rules in an attempt to cut vehicle emissions, which climate alarmists claim changes the weather, or something. Nobody really knows.

But make no mistake, Americans will pay for it, in many different ways.

Reuters noted:

The proposed rules are expected to cover the 2027 through 2032 model years. Environmental groups and some automakers think the proposal will result in at least 50% of the U.S. vehicle fleet by 2030 being electric or plug-in hybrids - in line with a goal President Joe Biden outlined in 2021.

The Biden administration, since taking office, has already enacted strict new emissions rules, taking aim at former President Donald Trump's rollback of emissions standards while he was in office.

"Biden EPA to force us to buy EVs by setting impossible emissions standards for new cars. Unending. Regulatory. Tyranny," Steve Milloy tweeted.

While the new emissions standards are undoubtedly a headache for auto manufacturers, many of the top manufacturers are too scared to admit it. Instead, they championed the move.

Reuters noted:

The Alliance for Automotive Innovation, a trade group representing nearly all automakers including Ford Motor (F.N), Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) and Toyota Motor (7203.T), said Thursday the industry backs the shift to EVs.

"The question isn't whether it can be done, it's how fast can it be done," a spokesperson for the trade group said.

The group added: "Every dollar invested in internal combustion technology is a dollar not spent on zero carbon technology."

Biden's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is reportedly set to announce new fuel economy standards soon, too, which will make it even more difficult for Americans, already struggling to afford groceries, to maintain and purchase vehicles in compliance with the upcoming rules.

Instead of focusing on the crisis at the southern border or myriad issues facing this nation, it's clear that the Biden administration's priority is appeasing the small, radical element of the Democratic Party. It's sickening, and scary.
