In President Joe Biden’s first hours as the president of the United States, he made crystal clear to everyone who works for him that he’s not messing around.
According to the Daily Caller, during a virtual swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday, Biden sternly told a large group of appointees that he would fire them on the spot if he caught wind of any instances of employees treating others with disrespect.
“I want to thank your families for the sacrifices,” Biden said. “But I’m not joking when I say this. If you are ever working with me and I hear you treat another colleague with disrespect, talk down to someone, I promise you I will fire you on the spot. On the spot. No ifs, ands or buts.”
The newly-minted president went on to take a jab at former President Donald Trump, suggesting that the idea of showing respect was something that had been lacking in his administration during his time in the White House.
“Everybody, everybody is entitled to be treated with decency and dignity. That’s been missing in a big way the last four years,” Biden continued.
Before initiating the mass swearing-in ceremony via what appeared to be a massive Zoom meeting, Biden told the large group of new employees that he promised he would admit when he makes a mistake, doubling down to say that he will take responsibility for his actions and that he’s counting on his new employees to hold him to that standard.
“That’s what we do. That’s what you do. That’s what so many of you have done throughout your career and I expect you to do it again,” Biden said.
Only time will tell if Biden is forced to fire any of his new employees and whether or not the turnover rate in his administration will even come close to that of Trump’s, which according to the Brookings Institute, was an astonishing 92 percent among his “A Team” during his time in the White House.
