President Joe Biden has created a humiliating and dangerous crisis as he allowed Kabul to be retaken by the Taliban. Though he’s responsible for the situation with the withdrawal of American forces that precipitated the fall, he can’t even be bothered answering questions about it.
As conditions continue to deteriorate for Americans stranded in Afghanistan, Biden turned his back on reporters and refused to answer questions about what their fate would be, Breitbart reported. Biden ignored the issue and walked away from the lectern Monday without addressing the situation.
The president was giving a speech at the White House about the Food and Drug Administration’s approval for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. Biden continued to push people to get vaccinated and stategically kept the focus on nothing but the pandemic.
After concluding his scripted remarks, Biden refused to take any questions from the eager press pool. “Do you know how many Americans are left in Afghanistan sir?” one reporter asked as Biden made his exit.

Biden was of course unwilling to answer the question, but maybe it’s because his administration is simply unable to pin down the number. Jake Sullivan, national security advisor to the president, stated on more than one occasion that they simply don’t know, according to the New York Times.
“We cannot give you a precise number,” he told CNN. Then, in an NBC “Meet the Press” appearance, he admitted the government was communicating with “a few thousand Americans” working to get them out of the country.
Other American officials believe it may be between 10,000 and 15,000 Americans still stranded in the country as the Aug. 31 exit date quickly approaches. As of Aug. 14 — just prior to the fall of Kabul back into Taliban control — 2,500 Americans had been rescued.
It’s alarming that the administration doesn’t seem to have a handle on how many need to be evacuated let alone how to do it. Biden may have turned his back on reporters Monday, but it appears he turned his back on America long before that.
