Biden seen flouting DC mask mandate during swanky dinner outing

Despite his well-earned reputation as the scold-in-chief when it comes to COVID-19 mitigation strategies, President Joe Biden has once again exempted himself from the practices he prescribes for others, as he was caught on camera flagrantly breaking the mask mandate currently in place in the nation’s capital, as the Daily Mail reports.

Biden and his wife, Jill, ventured out on Saturday evening to dine at tony Georgetown eatery Fiola Mare, a spot known to have a large following among the area’s high-powered political elite.

Notably, on the restaurant’s own website, its management informs potential customers in advance that “Per CDC guidance and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s executive order, all individuals over age 2 are required to wear a mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status,” adding that “masks must always be worn while in our restaurants, except while eating and drinking.”

Even so, both the president and his wife were recorded by a fellow patron of the establishment, nonchalantly making their way through the facility without masks, in footage that was subsequently featured on a Republican National Committee Twitter account.

When asked about the apparent double standard for the first couple, White House Jen Psaki on Monday did her best to play down the hypocrisy obvious to all, as the Daily Mail reported separately.

“Of course there are moments when we all don’t put masks back on as quickly as we should,” Psaki said, adding, “But I don’t think we should lose a forest through the trees here.”

Scrambling to pivot away to broader themes, the press secretary suggested that Americans focus more on the administration’s sweeping vaccination initiatives and efforts to convince schools and private businesses to put their own mask and vaccine mandates in place, rather than concentrating “on moments in time that don’t reflect overarching policy.”

Speaking for millions of citizens who are fed up with being told they must do one thing while watching politicians and celebrities do the opposite, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) said on Twitter, “Glad Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Ph.D. enjoyed their mask free dinner. Now, get rid of the mandate for the rest of us.”
