Biden prepares dramatic speech in Georgia to criticize voting laws

President Joe Biden has planned a new speech on voting reform to give in Georgia on Tuesday to attack the state’s recently passed election reform law.

Biden is expected to address voting rights in an appeal to the Senate to change its filibuster voting rules in an effort to federalize state voting rights.

“We are doubling down, kicking it into another gear, we are going right to the belly of the beast, or ground zero, for voter suppression, voter subversion and obstruction,” White House director of the Office of Public Engagement Cedric Richmond told Politico.

The voting reform bill was passed in Georgia by state Republicans in response to controversy over the 2020 presidential election results.

The bill angered Democrats, leading to accusations of racism that even led to moving the Major League Baseball All-Star Game out of the state in 2021.

The speech will likely lead to even more frustration, and division between Democrats and Republicans over voting integrity bills as the nation’s politics heat up in the battle toward the 2022 midterm elections.
