With less than four months to go until election day, Democrats are confident that Joe Biden will handily beat President Trump, but a swath of new polls are showing that the celebration is definitely premature.
A new Zogby poll shows that Biden’s previously commanding lead over Trump is rapidly collapsing. According to the national survey conducted among 10,000 likely voters, Biden’s 13-point lead in May shrank seven points from 54 to 49 percent.
“This is a healthy lead for Biden at this point but he has lost 6 points in advantage in the past few weeks,” said pollster John Zogby.
The Biden campaign relied on the chaos created by COVID-19 and the riots sweeping the nation to make Trump look bad, but Democrats allowed the violence and calls to defund the police to spiral so far out of control that voters may be afraid to vote Democrat in November for fear of further civil unrest.
Additionally, though the mainstream media championed polls that showed Biden leading Trump, most polls did not account for the massive enthusiasm gap between Biden and Trump’s supporters.
After months of being told what to think and do at the most invasive level, Americans may be fed up. Elizabeth Vaughn of the Federalist pointed out on Monday:
After the Russian collusion hoax, the impeachment hoax, and everything in between, corporate media has lost a lot of credibility. Americans have recently watched MSNBC’s Ali Velshi tell viewers the Minneapolis riots were “not generally speaking unruly” as an out-of-control fire raged in the background. They saw the Washington governor and Seattle mayor condone an “autonomous zone” set up by anarchists in the heart of the state’s largest city, and they’ve witnessed the toppling of statues of great Americans throughout the country.
It should come as no surprise that most voters do not believe Mount Rushmore is a racist monument, that America is an irredeemably racist nation that must be burned down and rebuilt, nor that Biden’s victory is a foregone conclusion. Not everybody is ready to hop on board the socialism train. Thank God for that.
Democrats and the mainstream media know that the key to Trump’s reelection is the enthusiasm of his voter base. If they can convince Americans that there’s no way Trump can win, they may just be able to hand the win to Biden — but they’ve clearly overplayed their hand.
