President Joe Biden has delegated advocacy for expanded voting rights to Vice President Kamala Harris. Hopefully, for the nation’s sake, she’ll handle it as well as she’s handled the crisis at the border — in other words, not at all.
Biden has charged Harris with taking over the fight pushing back against Republican efforts to tighten election security, Fox News reported. Many states including Florida, Georgia, and Iowa have passed these laws that Democrats falsely claim are racist.
“In the days and weeks ahead, I will engage the American people, and I will work with voting rights organizations, community organizations, and the private sector to help strengthen and uplift efforts on voting rights nationwide,” Harris promised in a statement. “And we will also work with members of Congress to help advance these bills,” the vice president said
Biden handed the baton to Harris in his address to a crowd in Tulsa, Oklahoma Tuesday on the centennial commemoration of the Tulsa race massacre. He used this occasion that recalls the day when a white mob killed 300 black people to make the announcement.
The president suggested it was time to “redouble their efforts” to register more voters. He claimed that June is a “month of action” for Congress to address the issue, charging that voting was a “sacred right under assault with incredible intensity like I’ve never seen” because of GOP-led legislation like voter ID laws and more stringent criteria for casting absentee ballots.
Per the usual arrangement, Democrats have framed any pushback against lax voter rules as racism and the media and major corporations have blindly followed their lead. Meanwhile, Republicans are simply interested in making sure all legal votes count and legitimate voters aren’t disenfranchised.
The one saving grace is that Harris is not very responsive when given these missives from the president. Despite being tapped to deal with the crisis at the border back in late March, the vice president hasn’t visited the border yet and has attempted to “distance” herself from the situation entirely, CNN reported.
The right to vote is sacred, but that’s why it’s important that it’s also completely secure. Biden and his fellow Democrats have tried to drum up opposition by any efforts to do just that, and the only explanation is that they know they’ll benefit from voter fraud.
