Democrat nominee Joe Biden confirmed on Saturday morning that he has officially chosen a vice president — though he has still chosen to be coy about announcing the name of the individual.
Fox News reporter Peter Doocy caught Joe Biden while he was on a bike ride in a Delaware state park, and asked him the question that’s on everyone’s mind: “Mr. Vice President, have you picked a running mate?”
Biden replied, “Yeah, I have.”
Doocy followed up by asking Biden who he has chosen, and Biden fired back “you,” before biking away.
“Folks, this is clearly a joke,” Biden’s campaign press secretary, TJ Ducklo, tweeted afterward. “When Vice President Biden has made a decision on who his running mate will be, he will let the American people know. And can confirm, it’s not @pdoocy of @FoxNews.”
Speculation surrounding Biden’s actual VP pick has reached a fever pitch in the last several weeks, as the 77-year-old candidate appears to be struggling to commit to a particular pick.
Biden has reportedly narrowed his choices down to Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Barack Obama’s former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, though some reports indicate that Biden is also still in talks with Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D).
Biden was slated to make his official announcement on August 1, but announced last week that he won’t reveal his official decision until just before the Democratic National Convention scheduled for August 17-20.
