Biden admits Colin Powell’s COVID-19 vaccine wasn’t enough due to ‘underlying conditions’

President Joe Biden expressed his sorrow over the death of former Secretary of State Colin Powell who died from complications with COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated.

“By the way, he had serious underlying conditions, as you know, that’s the problem. It wasn’t that the vaccinations aren’t good, he had two very serious underlying conditions,” he told reporters on Monday, according to Breitbart News.

“And unfortunately didn’t work. God love him,” Biden added.

Biden continued to argue vaccination is important, regardless of Powell’s passing despite being vaccinated.

Powell served under four presidents in Washington — Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. He was the first African American to serve as Secretary of State, in addition to a distinguished life of military service.

His wife tested positive for COVID-19 as well. Her symptoms were reportedly mild and she has been recovering from home.

The loss of Powell marks the end of one of the nation’s great leaders. The focus on COVID-19 should not stand in the way of the remarkable achievement Powell made and the barriers he broke during his 84 years of life.
