The American people are ready to get back to normal life. However, President Joe Biden and the other tyrants in government cannot let their power go even as the COVID-19 pandemic is on the wane.
The Biden administration will challenge the ruling that overturned the mask mandate on all federal transportation, the Daily Caller reported. A federal judge had ruled Monday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s mandate was an overreach of its authority.
Social media was flooded with videos and personal accounts of the moment airline passengers were told the mask mandate was no longer in effect Monday, Newsweek reported. People cheered and celebrated being able breath free for the first time in two years.
However, by Tuesday evening, the Department of Justice had hinted that the administration wouldn’t let this issue go after District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle’s ruling. “The Department of Justice and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) disagree with the district court’s decision and will appeal, subject to CDC’s conclusion that the order remains necessary for public health,” a DOJ statement said.
“If CDC concludes that a mandatory order remains necessary for the public’s health after that assessment, the Department of Justice will appeal the district court’s decision,” the statement added. That wording is significant considering the CDC still recommends masking on public transportation.
Moreover, the CDC said it was studying the “the potential impact of the rise of cases on severe disease, including hospitalizations and deaths, and healthcare system capacity” and would adjust recommendations accordingly. The White House vowed to stand by the agency’s rules even as it conceded the mandate was abolished — for now.
Masking on public transportation was one of the last draconian restrictions placed on Americans throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Several heads of airlines had called on Biden to drop the mandates, especially since the onus fell to employees to enforce it, which led to confrontations, NPR reported.
The pandemic seems to be fading away as infections become less severe and deaths rarer. However, the power acquired throughout the pandemic will be difficult to give up.
