Barack Obama claims that racism is behind Republican immigration concerns

Americans are fed up with the influx of illegal immigrants at a time of economic trouble. However, Democrats can do little more than revert to their usual antics to deflect from their role in the problem.

Former President Barack Obama blamed racism for Republicans' worries over out-of-control illegal immigration, Breitbart reported. The Democrat went further, calling opposition to open borders "dangerous rhetoric."

The number of migrants who have come to the U.S. since Biden took office in January 2021 is staggering. Some figures suggest that for every two births, one migrant has been brought into the nation since then at a time when the economy is in decline.

However, Obama claims the economic burden and other serious problems are not what's driving opposition to immigration. "Right now, the biggest fuel behind the Republican agenda is related to immigration and the fear that somehow America's character is going to be changed if, people of darker shades, there are too many of them here," Obama said Sunday during a meeting of Hispanic in San Diego, California.

"I wish I could be more euphemistic about it except [they're] not that subtle about it — they're just kind of saying it," Obama further claimed. "You hear it on hard-right media, you hear it from candidates and politicians, you hear things like 'great replacement theory' — I mean, this is not subtle," he added.

"Unless we're able to return to a more inclusive vision inside the Republican Party, it's going to be hard to get a bill done," Obama said. He went on to say that Republicans' supposed worries about replacement theory, whereby whites are being replaced in numbers by ethnic minorities, is "dangerous" to the nation.

"When you have that kind of rhetoric floating around out there, we've seen in history that is dangerous rhetoric," Obama said. "It's dangerous wherever it appears, and it's dangerous here in the United States."

Republicans are worried about the economic and humanitarian cost of open borders. Democrats created this situation, but they're eager to shift the conversation with their shopworn tactics of calling everything and everyone racist.
