Atlanta rapper accused of trafficking guns to Philadelphia

An Atlanta rapper has been accused of running a gun trafficking scheme to Philadelphia that involved at least 10 other people and 300 firearms.

Fredrick Norman, known as rapper Slowkey Fred, was allegedly involved in the trafficking scheme that dates back to 2010.

“We know that these guns are being used in crimes,” ATF assistant special agent Eric Degree told NBC News. “I’m sure we have not recovered them all. There’s still firearms purchased by these individuals that are most likely still on the street.”

“Between June and December 2020, Norman and other Georgia-based defendants purchased guns almost daily at stores like Academy Sports, Adventure Outdoors, and a string of pawnshops and then trafficked them to Pennsylvania, according to the federal indictment unsealed last month,” Fox News reported.

The arrest also included the discovery of more than 4,000 rounds of ammunition.

The arrests have caught one alleged gun smuggler, but it appears to be just one of multiple situations that need further investigation.
