An SUV drove through a Christmas parade crowd in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Sunday, killing five people and injuring at least 40 other, according to police. Local police attempted to shoot the driver before he hit the crowd but unfortunately they were unable to stop the driver.ย
The driver was soon arrested. Details regarding the person involved have not yet been released.

Waukesha Police Chief Dan Thompson said an officer fired shots at the vehicle in an attempt to stop the driver.
Another video on social media appeared to show police firing on the vehicle as it crashed through street barriers, according to Reuters.

Another report has noted the identification of the driver was Darrell Brooks, Jr., though police have not yet confirmed the information.
Classes in area schools were closed for Monday.
