Asian-Americans abandoning Democrat Party in favor or Republican Party

Democrats have counted on identity politics for reliable voting blocs. However, they’re losing their stronghold on one small group that could have a huge impact.

Asian-Americans are increasingly abandoning the Democratic party in favor of the GOP, the Daily Caller reported. Several moves toward wokeness have left Asian-Americans behind.

This particular demographic group is moving heavily toward Republicans for the 2022 midterm elections. “Asian American families want the same things as any other family in this country – the opportunity to work hard, live in a safe community, a provide the best life for their children,” Nikki Haley, former diplomat and past South Carolina governor told the news outlet.

“That’s why people from every walk of life are supporting GOP candidates,” she added.  “They agree our message is the right one and that we have the solutions to lift up all Americans,” Haley said.

Though they’ve yet to become enough of the population to become a powerhouse, people who identified as Asian increased by 35.5% between the 2010 and 2020 census. This makes them the “fastest-growing non-white population” in America and could spell future headaches for Democrats.

Historically, Asian immigrants weren’t politically active or outspoken. However, school policies are increasingly cutting against Asians and sometimes actively discriminating against them, such as in admissions policies that limit the number of Asian-Americans who can come to America’s top schools.

Xi Van Fleet, a mother at the infamous Loudoun County schools who made waves at the height of the controversy there, credits that issue as “one of the major things that are waking people up” to the injustice perpetrated by the left. “Now their children with good scores and good grades can’t go” to elite institutions, Van Fleet said.

The Democratic Party is increasingly running into trouble as it tries to appease everyone in its piecemeal coalition made up of diverse ethnic and identity groups. Though Asian-Americans don’t account for many voters in a national election, the fact that they’re turning away from Democrats in droves is significant.
