Another Russian general killed in Ukraine, this time it’s the highest ranking officer yet

Another Russian general has been killed in Ukraine, this time the highest-ranking officer yet to die during the invasion.

The general’s death also marked the seventh death of a Russian general during the conflict.

“Ukraine’s defence ministry says another Russian general, Lt Gen Yakov Rezantsev, was killed in a strike near the southern city of Kherson. Rezantsev was the commander of Russia’s 49th combined army,” the BBC reported.

“A western official said he was the seventh general to die in Ukraine, and the second lieutenant general – the highest rank officer reportedly killed,” the report added.

Yakov Ryezantsev was killed in Chornobaivka, a site of intense fighting just north of Kherson, according to Oleksiy Arestovych, advisor to the head of Ukraine’s presidential office,” the Kyiv Independent reported.

The heavy losses among Russian military members is certainly a concern for Russia as they seek to determine the next steps following a heavy resistance and sanctions from world leaders.
