Another Democrat Governor caught violating their own COVID-19 orders

Lockdowns, mask mandates, and other draconian restrictions are deemed necessary even as they destroy lives and business. So why are Democrat politicians not following their own rules?

Rhode Island Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo is the next in a long line of Democratic politicians caught red-handed not doing the very things they’ve recommended for their constituents. Raimondo was caught sipping wine at a wine bar last Dec. 11, just days after she told residents to “stay home except for essential activities.”

Although the activity was technically permitted under the state’s guidelines with restaurants at limited capacity but still open, Raimondo’s reluctance to stay home from such a nonessential activity smacks of hypocrisy. She has tested negative for the virus but has since chosen to self-quarantine for two weeks.

The photo that broke the story was originally tweeted by Erica Olivares, who was at the same wine and painting event at Barnaby’s Public House in Providence that evening. the UK Daily Mail reported. Olivares said she was surprised at the blowback the governor received and told media that Raimondo “only took her mask off whenever she was drinking her wine.”

Another Twitter user shared the photo, captioning it “another liberal hypocrite Governor from Rhode Island Gina Raimondo, was photographed at a wine bar after telling everyone else to stay home. This is how communism works, the elites have no laws for themselves , but impose their tyrannical ways on the innocent people !!”

Rhode Island’s first female governor was caught doing what looked decidedly “nonessential” judging from the photograph of her relaxed in front of her canvas with a glass of wine. However, she’s only one of several Democratic politicians that have a “Do as I say, not as I do” problem when it comes to COVID-19 restrictions.

According to the Associated Press, California Gov. Gavin Newsom and his wife dined at the tony French Laundry restaurant in Napa with 10 other people despite his state remaining virtually on lockdown since the pandemic began. San Francisco Mayor London Breed was caught the day after Newsom at the same pricey eatery with a half-dozen in his party. Mayor Steve Adler from Austin, Texas urged his constituents to stay home and that it was “not the time to relax” as he recorded the message from his vacation spot in Mexico. These are just a handful of such stories.

It’s no wonder that Americans are increasingly skeptical of COVID-19 lockdown and the officials who impose them. If this virus isn’t dangerous enough to keep them in their homes, and if their orders aren’t serious enough for them to obey themselves, why should anyone else be forced to? This is hypocritical elitism and shows exactly what they think of the people who elected them. Voters should take heed and cast their ballots accordingly in the coming years.
