Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly leading an abusive work environment, according to a new article by Politico.
“People are thrown under the bus from the very top, there are short fuses and it’s an abusive environment,” one of the people with direct knowledge of how Harris’ office is run told Politico.
“It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported but a place where people feel treated like s***,” the article added.
Chief Harris spokesperson, Symone Sanders, told Politico, “We are not making rainbows and bunnies all day. What I hear is that people have hard jobs and I’m like ‘welcome to the club.’”
Sanders added, “We have created a culture where people, if there is anything anyone would like to raise, there are avenues for them to do so. Whoever has something they would like to raise, they should raise it directly.”
The report included the accounts of 22 current and former staffers, according to the Daily Caller.
A CNBC report also noted Harris chief of staff as a key leader of the Harris team. “As Tina Flournoy exerts her power as a gatekeeper to the vice president, several of Harris’ allies outside the federal government are struggling to get their calls returned.”
The negative reports certainly do not help the vice president’s image. In addition to the report of her leading an abusive work environment, Harris has been criticized in other areas of leadership, especially regarding her role in addressing the root causes of illegal immigration.
