Alec Baldwin’s phone records seized in search warrant over film shooting

A new search warrant was issued on Thursday to seize Alec Baldwin’s cell phone in the pursuit of evidence related to the shooting death of Halyna Hutchins.

“Affiant is requesting a warrant for the seizure and search of Alec Baldwins’ [sic] cell phone to search for any evidence relating to the death investigation of Halyna Hutchins,” the affidavit said, according to Fox News. “Affiant believes there may be evidence on the phone due to individuals using cellular phones during and/or after the commission of crime(s).”

“Such information, if it exists, may be material and relevant to this investigation. Affiant was also made aware there were several emails and text messages sent and received regarding the movie production ‘Rust’ in the course of interviews,” it added.

The Oct. 21 shooting has been of intense national interest since the incident nearly two months ago. Baldwin shared an interview on ABC News that claimed he did not pull the trigger of the gun.

“Authorities believe Baldwin used his phone to discuss “Rust” production months prior to shooting,” according to reports.

The investigation continues as authorities seek answers as to why a live round was in the firearm and how it got there.
