Alan Komissaroff of Fox News dies at 47

Fox News reports that Alan Komissaroff, Fox News's Senior Vice President of News & Politics, has died at the age of 47.

The news was first revealed to Fox News employees on Friday in a memo from CEO Suzanne Scott and FOX News Media President & Executive Editor Jay Wallace.

"We have devastating news to share with you about Senior Vice President of News & Politics, Alan Komissaroff," Wallace and Scott began.

Then went on to reveal that, "tragically, Alan passed away today after suffering a heart attack at his home nearly two weeks ago."

Wallace and Scott did not go into detail about the heart attack. But, more information about it was posted on a GoFundMe page that was set up for the future of Komissaroff’s children.

The page reads:

On Sunday, January 8th, Alan was exercising at home, when he came upstairs and told Rachael he wasn’t feeling well. She called 911, and his heart stopped while paramedics were taking him to the hospital. He slipped into a coma, and never regained consciousness.

In their memo to Fox employees, Scott and Wallace continued by expressing their grief at Komissaroff's passing, writing, "this is an extremely difficult day for all of us who worked closely with Alan, and we are completely heartbroken."

Scott and Wallace continue:

Alan was a leader and mentor throughout FOX News Media who was integral to our daily news operations and played an indispensable role in every election cycle. The recent midterm election coverage was easily one of the finest nights of special coverage he produced throughout his career.

Komissaroff is one of Fox New's "originals," joining the outlet in 1996 just after he graduated from college.

He started off as a writer before working his way up the ranks. He went on to become a producer, and then a showrunner, before being named the Senior Vice President of News & Politics. This is a coveted position as it oversees all of Fox’s political coverage.

Scott and Wallace, in their memo, describe Komissaroff as the “ultimate producer." They write, “there was no steadier or more trusted colleague to be with in the control room during the most consequential events of our time and his incisiveness and passion for news made our work better.”

Komissaroff is survived by his wife, Rachel, and two teenage children, Ben, 17, and Olivia, 13.

At the time of this writing, the GoFundMe page set up for the future of Komissaroff's children had raised over $217,000.

The page states that Komissaroff "loved his work, but he loved his wife and kids so much more."
