AG Garland accused of lying to Congress

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland now stands accused of lying to Congress.

The Washington Examiner reports that the accusation comes from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblower.

Last week, the whistleblower sent a letter to Congress alleging corruption in the ongoing federal investigation of Hunter Biden. And, in the letter, the whistleblower alleges that he or she has information that will "contradict sworn testimony to Congress by a senior political appointee."

It is now believed that Garland is that "senior political appointee."

"A source familiar with the whistleblower letter confirmed to the Washington Examiner on Thursday that Garland is the unnamed senior Biden official whose testimony before Congress is being challenged," the Examiner reports.

It is further being reported that the "sworn testimony" was likely the testimony that Garland made before Congress within the past year or so. It was testimony about the ongoing Hunter Biden investigation.

The investigation has been ongoing since 2018, and it is being led by Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss. The investigation has, among other things, focused on Hunter Biden's business and tax affairs.

Reports have been published indicating that Weiss's investigation actually concluded about a year ago and that members of Weiss's team believe that they have sufficient information to charge Hunter Biden with crimes. Yet, time continues to go by, and no charges have been brought.

We do not know what is going on behind the scenes, but the IRS whistleblower - who has only been identified as a career IRS criminal supervisory special agent - does claim to have such knowledge. And, the individual claims that what is going on is corruption.

The whistleblower claims, among other things, that he or she can “detail examples of preferential treatment and politics improperly infecting decisions and protocols that would normally be followed by career law enforcement professionals in similar circumstances if the subject were not politically connected.”

Garland, in his testimony before Congress, made several claims that would appear to conflict with the whistleblower's information.

For one, Garland claimed that Weiss has "full authority" to make a criminal referral against Hunter Biden - although Garland would have to "authorize" any charges.

And, secondly, Garland claimed that, in the federal investigation of Hutner Biden, "There will not be interference of any political or improper kind."

It now appears that - if what the whistleblower says is true - both of these claims may be false. Garland has yet to respond to the allegations against him.
